ACP Ended: What Are Your Options Now?

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) stopped accepting new enrollments and officially ended in June 2024. If you were relying on it, here’s what’s still available.

Why ACP Ended

ACP ran out of congressionally allocated funding. Unlike Lifeline, ACP was never a permanent program, and no new enrollments have been accepted since it wound down.

ACP Ended lifeline remains

What’s Still Active

Lifeline remains active and is the primary ongoing federal wireless assistance program. It offers a smaller monthly discount than ACP did, but it’s still available to eligible households on a continuing basis, not a one-time basis.

What To Do If You Had ACP

  • Check whether you still qualify for Lifeline based on SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, or income
  • Contact your current provider to ask about switching your discount to Lifeline
  • Compare a few participating providers if your existing one doesn’t offer good Lifeline terms

Bottom Line

ACP is gone, but Lifeline hasn’t gone anywhere — if you previously relied on ACP, check your Lifeline eligibility so you don’t lose your discount altogether.
